An avatar is a graphical representation that is allowed on some online forums or chat rooms. Avatar's are used by internet marketers to help other users notice and remember them. An avatar is usually a small custom designed image or photograph located close to the username on forums.
Why Use An Avatar?
Avatars are used on seo forums to represent either a person or their site. Avatars can be useful in drawing attention to the poster and the poster some uniqueness. An avatar can be a photograph of the webmaster who is writing or a symbolic representation of their site.
Making an Avatar
Webmasters can make their own avatar or hire a professional graphic designer to do it for them. An avatar is usually made in .jpg or .gif format and most places where the avatar will be appearing will have a set size that must be used. Each site will also have their own rules regarding whether an avatar can be animated (have movement) and how large the file size can be.
