Directory Software
Directory software is the software used to create a directory. This software provides the directory owner with an admin panel for the directory. From this admin panel the directory editor can approve or decline listings and edit any changes to listings that are needed. The admin panel is also the place where the directory categories are created.
Why Use Directory Software?
It is virtually impossible to run a directory without directory software because webmasters will be submitting their sites to the directory. When submitting they will need a submission page that will in the end send the listing information over to the editor for review. Managing the existing listings is another reason to use directory software. By logging into an admin panel and being able to make changes a great deal of time is saved.
Getting Directory Software
If a webmaster is interested in starting a directory they will need to find software that suits their needs. There are several types of software programs available which range in price from being free to costing several hundred dollars. The ultimate goal for the directory will likely be used as a deciding factor in what directory software is chosen.
